Real Betis vs Athletic Bilbao
It’s time to take our attention to Spanish La Liga once again where Real Betis hosts Athletic Bilbao. This game is going to be played at the Estadio Benito Villamarin in the city of Sevilla.
Last season Real Betis did very well and the team even qualified for Europa League. But the way the team started the new campaign is a little bit inconsistent. Right now Betis are 12th in the league standings with 5 points won and a record of one win, two draws and one loss.
In their last game, Betis made a 0-0 draw during the visit to Valencia at the Estadio Mestalla. Before this they achieved their first win for the season, beating Sevilla with 1-0 in the big city derby. The only goal in the game was scored by the veteran Joaquin just ten minutes before the end.
During the week Real Betis had a game in the European competitions as well. The team travelled to Greece to face Olympiakos. The game in Piraeus ended with another 0-0 draw – a second consecutive for the Spanish side.
Athletic Bilbao are currently 11th in La Liga’s standings with 5 points won so far, but from just three games played. The Basques have a record of one win and two draws, is still unbeaten in the league.
Athletic started the season with a win against Leganes, which was followed by two consecutive draws against Huesca and Real Madrid.
Athletic made a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid at the San Mames Barria in the previous round. Iker Muniain opened the score for Bilbao, but Isco equalized for Los Blancos.
These are our thoughts about La Liga’s game between Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao. Surely Betis have the advantage to play at home here but don’t forget that Bilbao is still unbeaten since the start of the season.
